PWC’s ‘Digitise our core’ initiative is a business-led digital upskilling program that improves digital fitness and skills. To establish a baseline, staff were encouraged to complete a digital fitness assessment and a bespoke learning pathway using a mobile app. This was followed by enrolment in a Digital Academy – a two-day event to get hands-on with industry-leading software in data wrangling, visualisation and automation. Due to COVID-19, the course was rapidly redesigned for people to complete through a mixed self-paced and virtual workshop experience. Two-thirds of the workforce have completed the course so far. A selection of ~2% of the workforce has undergone deeper upskilling through the digital accelerator program. These people can drive a digital-positive culture throughout the firm and help realise people-led micro-innovations shared in an online marketplace called the Digital Lab. In the Academies, staff have generated more than 1342 ideas on ways to use their new skills to rethink the way they work. The Accelerator program has attracted more than 500+ self-nominations since July 2019.
