Xero reset their global wellbeing strategy in 2019 and hired a global head of wellbeing to build a dedicated wellness team. This allowed Xero to pivot to fully remote work globally when COVID-19 hit. A Future of Work project is now underway to reimagine how the team at Xero work. As part of the strategy, several resources were developed, including a Xero wellbeing hub, mental health training, and a people leader toolkit. Xero also introduced lifestyle leave, repositioned sick leave as wellbeing leave (wellbeing leave increased 23% year-on-year since introduction), and provided an additional wellbeing day to all employees for World Mental Health Day. Parental leave was made more inclusive, and Xero increased the benefits available to parents, regardless of where they live or how they became a parent. Xero also established a number of partnerships that benefit staff, including BeyondBlue and the Benestar employee assistance program.
